A 55-year-old woman from Jenpur village in Daryapur tehsil in Amravati district has been arrested by Mankapur Police for allegedly setting fire to a car parked outside her relative’s house in Godhani, reportedly over a long-standing family dispute and feelings of humiliation. The accused, identified as Pushpa Kashiram Amle (55), was allegedly upset with her relative Nikhilesh Krishnarao Rajurkar (35), a bus driver living in Fagoji Layout, Godhani. According to police, the two had been at odds for some time over financial matters.

Pushpa was earlier living in Godhani with her husband. After he was murdered several years ago, she moved back to her native village. Even after leaving Godhani, she continued to visit relatives in the area regularly. Investigators said, frequent disagreements had strained her relationship with Nikhilesh and his family. Over time, family members reportedly began avoiding her, which, police believe, she interpreted as insulting and disrespectful behaviour. She took the ‘revenge’ of humiliation in the early hours of May 30. Around 3.30 am, Pushpa is accused of setting fire a car (MH-40/DE-3375), which was parked outside Nikhilesh’s residence. Following the incident, Mankapur Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

The police, led by Senior Police Inspector Harish Kalsekar, examined the CCTV footage from the area and identified the suspect. During the probe, police learnt that Pushpa had left a relative’s house around 2.30 am on the day of the incident, telling family members that she was returning to her village. Investigators also found that her mobile phone location matched the area where the crime was committed. Based on the evidence collected, a police team travelled to Daryapur, arrested Pushpa and brought her back to Nagpur. Further investigation is underway.
