 ‘Saanidhya’ interactive series begins at SCZCC  
 
The South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is organising an interactive series ‘Saanidhya’ at its center premises in Civil Lines on Monday. The event will continue till June 5, with sessions scheduled daily from 4 pm onwards. On the inaugural day on Monday, renowned exponent Rani Khanam shed light on the topics “Persian Influence on Kathak” and “Sufi Literature and Kathak.” She presented her extensive research exploring the Persian influences integrated into the Kathak dance form. She also shared her deep studies on Sufism, which have culminated in several international productions alongside legendary Sufi musicians, singers, and artists.
 
In addition to this, Rani Khanam performed select compositions reflecting her unique artistry, research, and deep spiritual persona. The interactive session with the multi-talented artist was moderated by Dr Chitra Sharma alongside the programme coordinator, Madhura Phatak. The center has outlined the schedule for the remaining days of the series as follows:- June 2, 2026: Guru Rani Khanam will continue the discussion on “Sufi Literature and Kathak.” Following this, Dr Chitra Sharma and Madhura Phatak will engage in a conversation with Aastha Karlekar regarding her personal journey in Kathak. On June 2, after the lecture by Rani Khanam, a traditional Kirtan performance will be presented by Mrunmayee Kulkarni. On June 3, Dr Chitra Sharma will present her research dialogue titled “My Research Dialogue on Various Gurus and Gharanas.”
 
This will be followed by a traditional Gondhal and Jagran performance by Vishnu Ashok Dhongde. On June 4 and 5, Charan Girdhar Chand, a strong pillar of the Jaipur Gharana and a living legend of the Pandit Narayan Prasad tradition, will discuss his lineage, training, and the unique, rare compositions of the Jaipur Gharana. On the closing day on June 5, a traditional Bharthari vocal performance will be presented by Rekha Jalchhatri. This series, which highlights the deep-rooted connections between Kathak and folk traditions, is being organised under the guidance of Aastha Karlekar, Director of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur. The SCZCC invited all artists, scholars, and art enthusiasts to attend this discussion series and enrich themselves in the esteemed presence of the masters.
