The district administration has completed all preparations for the counting of votes for the Nagpur Local Authorities’ Constituency by-election to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. The counting will begin at 8 am on Monday at the Bachat Bhavan, Collectorate.
District Collector Kumar Ashirwad reviewed the arrangements and security measures. Tight security has been deployed at the counting centre to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
According to Resident Deputy Collector Anup Khande, four counting teams have been constituted, each comprising a Counting Supervisor, Counting Assistant, and Micro Observer.
The counting will be conducted on four tables, with an additional
table designated for tabulation.
A total of 823 out of 836 eligible voters exercised their franchise in the by-poll, recording a 98.44% voter turnout.
The by-election is a direct contest between BJP candidate Dr Rajiv Potdar and Indian National Congress candidate Atul Londhe.
The electorate consists of 836 voters, including 419 men and 417 women.
Dr Rajiv Potdar of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is enjoying support of 538 votes of Mahayuti while Atul Londhe of Congress contested based on the support of MVA’s 213 votes. 13 candidates did not vote.
