Dr Ishwarchand Chandewar
Staff Reporter :
A day after the death of neuro specialist and Neuron Hospital administrator Dr Ishwarchand Chandewar, Dhantoli Police have intensified their investigation to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step. Police are examining his call detail records (CDR) and speaking to family members and hospital staff to understand the circumstances leading to his death. A team from Dhantoli Police Station, led by Senior Police Inspector Sainath Ramod, visited Neuron Hospital and interacted with doctors and employees. However, according to police, the hospital staff remained tight-lipped and did not provide any information that could throw light on the incident.
Police also spoke to Dr Chandewar’s family members. They told investigators that the 42-year-old doctor appeared normal and they themselves were unable to understand what prompted him to take such a drastic step.
“We are checking his call detail records to know with whom he was in contact and to understand the reason behind the incident,” said PI Ramod. He added that initial information suggested that Dr Chandewar had not visited his home for five days. However, family members later informed police that he had come home and had left for the hospital at around 9 am.
Dr Chandewar, a resident of Manewada and administrator of Neuron Hospital near Yeshwant Stadium, allegedly died after administering an overdose of anaesthesia to himself inside his room at the hospital on Monday morning. Police had found the room locked from inside after hospital staff alerted them when he failed to come out.
