RAIPUR :
THE Forest Department has dismissed reports alleging largescale felling or burning of trees
in the Indravati Tiger Reserve,
stating that no such incident has
been reported within the protected area. In a statement issued
on Wednesday, the Deputy
Director of the Indravati Tiger
Reserve said reports circulating
in certain sections of the media
regarding the cutting or burning
of large trees along roadsides in
the Kutru core area of the reserve
were baseless, unverified and
misleading.
According to the department,
no cases of illegal tree felling,
burning or similar forest-related offences have been detected
in the area concerned. Officials
maintained that regular monitoring and surveillance activities
are being carried out across the
reserve to protect forests and
wildlife.
The department stated that
forest personnel have been
actively patrolling their respective jurisdictions, particularly
after security conditions
improved in the Bastar region.
Flying squads are conducting
routine inspections, while local
youths engaged as patrol guards
are assisting in monitoring forest areas and reporting any suspicious activities.
Officials also said that awareness programmes and outreach
campaigns are being conducted
in nearby villages to encourage
community participation in forest and wildlife conservation
efforts. The Forest Department
emphasized that any complaints
related to forest offences or
wildlife protection are acted
upon promptly in accordance
with established rules and procedures. It reiterated that no
evidence supporting the reported allegations has been found
so far.
Appealing to the public, officials urged citizens not to rely on
unverified reports and advised
them to immediately inform the
Forest Department if they
observe any suspicious activity
related to forests or wildlife. The
department said timely information from local residents plays
an important role in protecting
forest resources and ensuring
swift action against any violations of conservation laws.
