Katara Hills police have solved a month-old blind murder case, revealing that the victim was killed after he resisted an attempt to establish an unsolicited same-sex relationship. Police on Tuesday arrested accused Ajay Singh Mewada, a resident of Misrod, in connection with the murder of Rajesh Rai, a resident of Mandideep.
According to police investigator Sunil Dubey, a highly decomposed body was found near the Ecological Park on the Jhagaria Highway on May 29. The body, believed to be around five days old, was later identified as Rajesh Rai. Police registered a case and launched a detailed investigation to untangle the circumstances surrounding the death.
As the victim’s mobile phone was missing from the crime scene, police tracked the device through its IMEI number and found that it was being used with another SIM card.
Single-point exits: Several institutes were operating with only a single route serving as both the entry and exit - violating primary national fire safety building codes and leaving students with zero alternative escape routes in case of a mishap.
High-rises operating illegally; Tulsi Tower’s NOC revoked: The audit also slammed multi-storey setups that routinely bypass civic guidelines.
Notices were slapped on 10 high-rise buildings, including the prominent Kanha Tower, for failing to comply with mandatory norms.
The 15-metre rule: Under current municipal laws, any building taller than 15 meters must secure and continuously renew a Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC). Officials noted that many structures continue to function flagrantly without this mandate. Cracking the whip further, the department confirmed that the Fire NOC for Tulsi Tower has already been cancelled due to persistent non-compliance.
Inspection drive to continue: Confirming that this is just the beginning of a sustained enforcement drive, BMC’s Fire Officer Saurabh Patel stated that checking squads are actively deployed on the ground. “Surveys are being conducted continuously, and notices are being issued wherever violations are found. Inspection teams are actively carrying out checks to ensure absolute compliance with fire safety norms across the capital,” Patel asserted.
