JASHPUR Police has secured a
place in the Golden Book of
World Records after conducting
traffic awareness chaupals
simultaneously in all 766 villages
of the district in a single day as
part of its extensive helmet
awareness campaign.
The record certificate and
medal were presented to DIG
and Senior Superintendent of
Police Dr Lal Umed Singh by
Golden Book of World Records
State Head Sonal Rajesh Sharma
at a programme held at the
Jashpur Police Office.
The recognition followed verification of the campaign and its
outreach efforts.
Launched to curb road accident fatalities, the campaign
focuses on promoting helmet
use among two-wheeler riders
and pillion passengers, while also
creating awareness about seatbelt usage, safe driving practices
and the dangers of driving under
the influence of alcohol.
The initiative began on April
18, 2026, with a district-level helmet awareness rally flagged off
from the Reserve Centre in Jashpur. Collector
Rohit Vyas, police personnel, public representatives and citizens participated in the programme.
Similar rallies were later organised
across Pathalgaon, Kunkuri, Bagicha and several police station jurisdictions, attracting participation from more than 10,000 citizens.
Police officials said the campaign received
support from over 3,000 prominent citizens,
public representatives, government officials
and employees, including the Chief Minister
and district in-charge minister, who appealed
through social media videos for strict compliance with helmet and traffic safety norms.
On Wednesday, Jashpur Police took the campaign to every village by organising public
awareness chaupals simultaneously across the
district between 10 am and 5 pm. More than
60,000 citizens were administered a road safety pledge during the programme. The campaign
was further strengthened by nearly 5,000 “Police
Mitan” volunteers who assisted police personnel in spreading awareness at the grassroots level. Dr Lal Umed Singh dedicated the
achievement to all police personnel, government officials, elected representatives and volunteers who contributed to the record-setting
initiative.
