ATEEBA Abid Sheikh delivered an outstanding performance at the 3rd Western India Strengthlifting and Incline Bench Press (IBP) Championship held at Dalli Rajhara in Chhattisgarh, recently. Representing Maharashtra in the Under-65 kg women’s category, Ateeba secured two gold medals with a combined lifting total of 160 kg, emerging as one of the top performers at the championship.

 

Following her impressive performances, Ateeba has been selected to represent the country at the 13th World Strengthlifting & Incline Bench Press Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan in September 2026. A student of VNIT, Ateeba had earlier excelled at the National Strengthlifting Championship held in Gangtok, Sikkim, which earned her qualification to represent India at the international level. Her achievement has brought laurels to Maharashtra and Nagpur. Sports enthusiasts have extended their best wishes for her upcoming international campaign.
