Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday unveiled the new logo of the Chhattisgarh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board (CGHIDB) at New Circuit House in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Addressing the programme, Chief Minister Sai stated that once focused only on housing construction, will now play a wider role in infrastructure development to support the state’s growth.
Sai said every family dreams of owning a permanent home and the state government is committed to fulfilling that aspiration. He said the board’s expanded mandate would strengthen infrastructure development across State. Highlighting the board’s performance, Chief Minister Sai said it had overcome financial challenges over the past two years by selling 7,388 properties and generating revenue of Rs 1,532 crore. He congratulated the Housing and Environment Department, the board’s chairman and its entire team for the achievement.
Sai said the government has moved swiftly to fulfil its commitments, with more than 10.5 lakh houses completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and nearly 1,600 new houses being completed every day.
He added that special housing initiatives are also being implemented for surrendered Naxalites and
Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. Meanwhile, Chief Minister distributed prizes to winners of the lucky draw held for beneficiaries who booked houses during the ‘Awas Mela 2025’, with Pooja Bareth of Sarangarh receiving the first prize, a car. Scooties, refrigerators, washing machines, and LED TVs etc. were distributed among other winners. He also felicitated Shri Anshul Kashyap, designer of the board’s new logo, and presented him with the competition prize of Rs 2.5 lakh. Housing and Environment Minister Choudhary said in his address the department has implemented wide-ranging administrative reforms under Chief Minister’s leadership. Renaming the Housing Board as the Housing and Infrastructure Development Board has expanded its role in capital expenditure and infrastructure development.
He said the government’s economic philosophy is to strengthen departments undertaking capital expenditure through adequate financial and human resources to accelerate development. Chairman of the CGHIDB Anurag Singh Deo said the organization has adopted a new work culture under Chief Minister’s guidance, describing its transformation into the Housing and Infrastructure Development Board as an important step in the state’s development. Secretary of the Housing and Environment Department Secretary Ankit Anand, Commissioner of the CGHIDB Awanish Kumar Sharan, senior officials and beneficiaries were also present on the occasion. Later, addressing a press conference at Nava Raipur, Housing and Environment Minister O P Choudhary and Chairman of the CGHIDB Anurag Singh Deo highlighted the works and achievements of the CGHIDB. O P Choudhary said that new housing projects will now be launched only after sufficient bookings are secured, reducing financial risks and avoiding unnecessary construction. The One-Time Settlement Scheme has helped dispose of long-pending properties and improve the board’s financial discipline, he added.
