In a major crackdown on drug trafficking under ‘Drug-Free Madhya Pradesh’ campaign, Jabalpur Police arrested four peddlers including a juvenile and seized 14.57 kg of ganja worth Rs 7.28 lakh, along with two unregistered scooters used in the crime. The accused have been identified as Dishant Singh Parihar (21), a resident of Purtala village, Nagod, Satna district, a 17-year-10-month-old juvenile, Anshul Rai (21), a resident of Chaurapatha village, Keolari, Seoni district and Naveen Jhariya (21), a resident of Mohgaon village, Keolari, Seoni district.
 
SHO of Adhartal Police Station Vipin Tamrakar informed that while investigating a theft case on June 25, police personnel reached the Karonda Bypass area near Dau Marriage Garden on Katni-Jabalpur Road. They spotted two silver-grey Jupiter scooters without registration plates, each carrying two youths. The suspects attempted to escape after noticing the police but were promptly surrounded and detained. During the search, police recovered ganja concealed in college bags and plastic sacks placed on the scooters. The seizure included 5.26 kg of ganja from a college bag carried by Dishant Singh Parihar and the juvenile, 6.11 kg of ganja from a plastic sack kept on the same scooter and 3.20 kg of ganja from a black college bag carried by Anshul Rai and Naveen Jhariya.
 
The total seizure amounted to 14.572 kg of ganja valued at Rs 7,28,600. During interrogation, Dishant Singh Parihar and juvenile revealed that they had procured the consignment from Pawan Bagri, a resident of Amdari village in Satna district and were supplying it to Anshul Rai and Naveen Jhariya through mobile phone contacts. They later admitted that they intended to sell the ganja in Seoni district. Adhartal Police registered a case under Sections 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and seized the contraband along with the two scooters.
