Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha has strongly objected to the proposed reduction in air services between Jabalpur and Delhi, calling it an injustice to the city and Mahakoshal region. He has urged IndiGo Airlines to immediately reconsider its decision to curtail flights from July 1. In a message addressed to IndiGo Managing Director Rahul Bhatia and the airline's management, Tankha said the Jabalpur-Delhi morning flight, which currently operates throughout the week, is proposed to run only four days a week. He said the move would inconvenience passengers from Jabalpur as well as neighbouring districts, including Katni, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Mandla and Damoh. The MP said the morning flight has been particularly useful for businesspersons, industrialists and professionals, allowing them to travel to Delhi, complete official work and return the same day.

He added that the reduction in flights would also create difficulties for patients travelling to the national capital for treatment and for those travelling in emergency situations. Mp Vivek Tankha said Jabalpur serves as a major commercial and administrative centre for eastern Madhya Pradesh and deserves better air connectivity instead of reduced services. MP Tankha appealed to the airline management to review the decision in the larger public interest. The issue has also sparked concern among citizens and business circles, who said that better air connectivity is essential for the region's economic growth and convenience of passengers.
