In A tragic incident, three teenagers met with a watery grave at Dadda Ghat under Tilwara police station in Jabalpur district on Saturday afternoon. The victims were identified as Raja Khan (16), Sahil Khan (18) and Sahil, son of Shakeel, all residents of Supatal area in Mujawar Mohalla in Garha area of Jabalpur.
According to Tilwara police, the incident occurred at around 3 pm when the three friends reached at the ghat to swim.
They entered a deep section of the river created by ongoing excavation work near a water treatment plant and were unable to swim back.
Local residents and boatmen immediately started rescue efforts and managed to pull out the teenagers out of water. Unfortunately, all the three had breathed their last by the time they were rescued.
SHO of Tilwara Police Station Brijesh Mishra said learning about the incident, police reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem and
further investigation is underway. Eyewitnesses said excavation work near the water plant had created a deep pit under the water surface, making the area extremely dangerous for swimmers. Unaware of the sudden depth, teenagers entered the danger area and were swept into deep water. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was informed, local boatmen and volunteers began rescue operations before the team arrived. Despite their efforts, the teenagers could not be revived.
