Five members of a family from Chandrapur district died on the spot in a tragic road accident on the Samruddhi Expressway on Sunday afternoon, after their car rammed into a stationary container truck near Dhamangaon Railway in Amravati district. The deceased have been identified as Bhaskar Mahadev Jivne (65), Mahadev Jivaji Jivne (43), Lata Mahadev Jivne (60), Aarti Bhaskar Jivne (41), and Jignya Bhaskar Jivne (12). The family resided in the Babupeth area behind the Government DEd College in Chandrapur. According to preliminary information, the Jivne family was travelling from Chandrapur to Akola to attend a family function via Samruddhi Expressway when the accident took place around 12.15 pm near chainage number 105, close to Dhamangaon Railway.

 

Police said the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to crash into the rear side of a container truck parked on the roadside. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely crushed beneath the truck, killing all five occupants of the car on the spot. Following the incident, personnel from the Dattapur Police, the Highway Police, and the District Traffic Police rushed to the spot. Rescue operations were carried out with the assistance of local residents, but the victims could not be saved due to the severity of the crash. The bodies were later shifted to the Rural Hospital at Dhamangaon Railway for postmortem examination.

 

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. It remains unclear whether speeding, driver fatigue, or other factors contributed to the crash. News of the tragedy has sent shockwaves through Chandrapur, where relatives, friends, and local residents are mourning the sudden loss of an entire family. The incident has also renewed ongoing concerns over road safety and emergency response measures on the Samruddhi Expressway.
