“I am not concerned about how much money I will earn in my profession. What motivates me is seeing the happiness on the face of a patient after successful treatment,” says Nameera Siddique, who has secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the NEET MDS (Dental) examination.
A student of Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur, Nameera scored 802 marks out of 960 to emerge as the national topper in the postgraduate dental entrance examination.
Hailing from Bhandara district, Nameera has now set her sights on pursuing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.
She said the specialty appeals to her because it offers an opportunity to restore the health and confidence of patients, particularly those who have suffered facial injuries in accidents.
After completing her Class X education in Bhandara, Nameera moved to Nagpur and joined St Paul School for her higher secondary education.
Nameera’s father, Galib Siddique, is a businessman, while her mother, Jabin Siddique, is a homemaker. Her younger brother, Junaid Siddique, is currently preparing for the undergraduate NEET examination and hopes to pursue a career in medicine. Nameera is doing internship at Kalmegh Dental college and used to study during night. All her cousins are in medical profession. This inspired Nameera to pursue this field.
