In a major breakthrough, sleuths of Lokayukta special establishment caught a revenue inspector while taking bribe of Rs 80,000 from an appellant for demarcation of his agricultural land in Shahpura tehsil. The accused, Karan Singh Lodhi (56), posted as a revenue inspector in Shahpura Tehsil Office of Jabalpur district, was caught red-handed at his residence Ratan Colony, Katanga. Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Jabalpur, Anjulata Patle informed that acting on the directives of Lokayukta Director General of Police Yogesh Deshmukh for strict action against corruption and under the guidance of Deputy Inspector General of Police Manoj Singh, the Jabalpur unit of the Lokayukta Police on Tuesday trapped and arrested a revenue inspector while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000. According to Lokayukta SP, the complaint was lodged by Rohit Jain (37), a resident of Sangam Colony, Ukhri, Jabalpur.
 
Jain informed the Lokayukta that a businessman friend had purchased land in Kulon village under Shahpura tehsil and required official demarcation of the property. The revenue inspector demanded Rs 1 lakh to process the demarcation work. After receiving the complaint, the Lokayukta conducted a verification exercise, during which the accused agreed to accept Rs 80,000 as bribe. Following confirmation of the demand, a trap was laid on Tuesday. During the operation, Lokayukta officers caught Karan Singh Lodhi while accepting Rs 80,000 from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered and the accused was taken into custody. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the Revenue Inspector under Sections 7, 13(1)(b), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) while further investigation is underway. The trap team was led by Inspector Jitendra Yadav (Trap Laying Officer) and Inspector Rahul Gajbhiye, along with other members of the Jabalpur Lokayukta Police unit.
