NAWANYA Sawalakhe of Nagpur clinched a silver medal in the Sub-Junior National Boxing Championships that concluded at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab on Monday. Representing Maharashtra in the 49kg girls category, Nawanya put up a strong campaign and recorded wins over her opponents from Odisha (preliminary round),

 

Madhya Pradesh (pre-quarter), Sikkim (quarter-final) and Chandigarh (semi-final). In the final, she faced a boxer from Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and settled for second position after a hard-fought bout. Nawanya has trained under guidance of coach Ganesh Purohit, assisted by Yogesh Mishra and Raunak Khambalkar at Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur, Nagpur. Office-bearers and members of Nagpur District Boxing Association have congratulated her on this outstanding achievement and wished her success in future endeavours.
