Conditions remain highly favourable for the monsoon to advance into more parts of the State over the next one day. This active advancement is being driven by a cluster of synchronised weather systems, including a seasonal trough stretching from Punjab to Bihar, an upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh, and a western tropospheric trough. Furthermore, a fresh Western Disturbance is slated to hit northwest India by July 2, ensuring that volatile, moisture-heavy weather persists across the region. The State witnessed highly contrasting weather conditions, marked by heavy downpours in some pockets and scorching heat in others. Mandsaur bore the brunt of the monsoon’s fury, recording a heavy rainfall of 76 mm accompanied by fierce gale-force winds clocking up to 50 km/h. Other areas also received substantial precipitation, with Suvasara recording 66 mm, Raghogarh 64 mm, and Pandhurna 56 mm. While parts of the Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, and Gwalior divisions experienced a wet spell, parts of the State stayed completely dry. The maximum temperature in the state peaked at 40.4°C in Nowgong, followed closely by Gwalior at 40.2°C, whereas Pachmarhi recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 20.6°C. This mixed bag of weather elements led to sharp, localised temperature fluctuations across multiple divisions.

Thanks to the cloud cover and rain, maximum temperatures dropped appreciably by up to 3.5°C in parts of the Bhopal, Ujjain, and Shahdol divisions. Conversely, mercury levels shot up significantly above the seasonal average in the Rewa, Jabalpur, Sagar, and Narmadapuram divisions. Night temperatures also showed a marked upward trend, particularly in the Shahdol division, where minimum temperatures jumped by a striking 5.6°C above normal. In the capital city of Bhopal, the morning humidity peaked at 79%, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 34.6°C and a minimum of 25.2°C. The Weather Department has issued a comprehensive set of warnings advising extreme caution against severe thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h across almost all major districts. A localised heavy rainfall warning has been placed on Betul, Dhar, and Seoni. Meanwhile, the district of Damoh faces a peculiar and dangerous combination of active thunderstorms, lightning, and concurrent heat wave conditions. Looking at the broader distribution, rainy and thundery weather is expected at a few places in southern and eastern districts like Chhindwara, Mandla, and Balaghat, and at isolated places across central and western districts, while the northern belt including Gwalior, Bhind, and Morena is predicted to remain dry.
