A week of volatile weather mix of isolated rainfall, fierce dust storms, and powerful gusty winds active across Madhya Pradesh has brought a significant drop in temperatures, keeping them well below normal summer averages. While isolated regions experienced wet weather, severe tracking indicators recorded a massive dust storm in Ujjain and gale-force winds reaching speeds of 81 kmph at the Indore airport. According to the daily weather updates, a combination of active western disturbances and a weather trough stretching from West Uttar Pradesh to North Tamil Nadu directly across Madhya Pradesh is driving this turbulent phase. Rainfall was recorded at isolated places across Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Chambal, Rewa, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions, while the rest of the state remained dry. Mahidpur led the State with 30.0 mm of rainfall, followed by Kusmi at 20.0 mm and Nalkheda at 19.0 mm. High-velocity winds were recorded in Barwani at 35 kmph, Agar at 33 kmph, and both Ashoknagar and Sehore at 30 kmph. Thunderstorm and lightning activities were heavily concentrated across multiple districts, including Sheopur, Morena, Khandwa, Chhindwara, and Singrauli. Day temperatures rose appreciably by 3.4°C in the Gwalior division, but maximum temperatures overall stayed markedly below normal by 5.1°C to 5.2°C in Gwalior, Chambal, and Rewa.

Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions also stayed appreciably below normal by 3.0°C to 4.2°C. Khandwa recorded the State’s highest maximum temperature at 40.1°C, closely followed by Khajuraho at 40.0°C and Vidisha at 39.8°C. On the lower end, Amarkantak registered the lowest maximum temperature at 32.7°C. For night temperatures, Indore recorded the lowest minimum at 18.6°C, while Vidisha saw the highest minimum at 27.9°C. The capital city recorded a maximum temperature of 37.0°C (4.2°C below normal) and a morning humidity peak of 71%. The forecast for Bhopal and its neighbourhood will experience a partly cloudy sky with the strong possibility of a afternoon thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and light rain. Winds will average speeds between 12 to 14 kmph, with temperatures expected to hover around 38°C maximum and 24°C minimum. The Meteorological Department has issued an isolated thunderstorm, lightning, and severe gusty wind (40-50 kmph) warning for 40 districts, including Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, and Pandhurna.
