Pranay Gadewar bags men’s title

KAISHALWAR sisters – Grishma and Janvi took home badminton trophies during the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav which concluded at RTMNU’s Subhedar Hall.
Younger sister Grishma, 15, claimed the women’s singles crown while he 21-year-old Janvi finished second best in women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Pranay Gadewar was stretched to three games by Rohan Singh in the men’s singles final but the former prevailed 15-11, 11-15, 16-14.
Grishma stunned title favourite Sophia Simon in a thrilling summit clash. Grishma took the first game 18-16 and then fought out hard in the second game to win it 17-15 to lay her hands on title.
Earlier in quarter-finals, Grishma beat Sanskriti Siriah 15-5, 15-6 and in semi-final, she got the better of Tinku Ninave 15-12, 15-6. Janvi paired with Chunharmeet Singh Sokhi to finish runners-up in mixed doubles. The duo went down to the pair of Shashank Kulal and Nishika Gokhe in three gruelling games. They won the first game 16-14 but then lost the steam going down 12-15, 12-13. In women’s doubles, Janvi and her partner Arya Anchalwar went down to Kripi Sajwan and Nehal Gosavi 15-9, 15-10.
They recorded quarter-finals win over Aasavari Khandekar and Sophia Simon 15-13, 11-15, 15-6 and then beat Gargi Tidke and Nandani Singh 15-3, 15-3 in the semis.
Both sisters belong to a sporting family. Their father Rohit and mother Asmita are former national-level handball players.
Double delight for
Nageshwari, Bhavyashri
V Nageshwari and Bhavyashri Mahalle of Nav-Maharashtra Krida Mandal achieved double success in athletics competition.
Nageshwari won 100m and 200m races. She completed the 100m race in 12.67 seconds. Anshu Sharma (12.86) came second while Sanyogita Misar finished third in 13.22 seconds. Nageshwari won 200m in 26.64 seconds. Anshu again was second with 26.88 seconds and Nitya (28.48) ended third.
Bhavyashri emerged champ in 800 and 1500m races. She clocked a time of 2 minutes 17.10 seconds in women’s 800m race. Pallavi Dongarwar of Mavale Krida Mandal and Arya Kore took second and third spots.
In 1500m race, Bhavyashri clocked a time of 4 minutes 52.55 seconds. Anjali Madavi of the Khel and Nikita Shahu followed her.

DKM enter final
NETRA Damke was unstoppable scoring 31 points as DKM girls thumped GKM 81-31 to storm into final of the basketball youth championship. The quarter-wise scores read 32-15, 20-03, 10-13, 19-00. They will take on SKS, who defeated Spartan 54-32 (10-06, 15-12, 13-07, 16-07). Sejal Mishra scored 23 points for the winners. In a boys’ thrilling semis, DKM (Om Raut 37) beat PBG (Vedant Karambhe 31) 65-64 (15-16, 14-19, 21-23, 15-06).
Meanwhile, the organising committee declared that Krida Bhushan Awards will be conferred upon on Sunday morning at 11 am at Suresh Bhat Sabhagraha.
