A shocking failure by Ambazari Police has come to light in the case of Sneha alias Akanksha Chaturvedi, a NEET aspirant who died by suicide on May 20. Ankanksha was under severe stress after the NEET exam paper leak controversy. She ended her life by hanging herself with a scarf. The case drew national attention after Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, posted about it on social media platform X. When police reached the scene, they found a suicide note on Sneha’s table. In the note, she wrote that she did not have the courage to appear for the NEET exam again.

She also expressed guilt, saying her parents were suffering because of her. However, in a serious lapse of duty, the police did not officially take on the record the suicide note. It was not mentioned in any documents related to the case. Even the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Zone 2, Nityanand Jha, was not told about the note’s existence. This fact remained hidden for days after her death. When the matter was finally exposed, senior police officials ordered an inquiry. A report was submitted to the DCP, who is now expected to decide on further action. DCP Jha told The Hitavada that the suicide note was mentioned in the station diary entry. However, it was not attached to the case papers. DCP Jha also told that Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Head Constable Nikhil Tabhane held responsible and a show cause notice was issued to him.
