In yet another criminal breach of trust case reported from a Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) in the district, Durg police have registered FIR against the In-charge of Seva Sahakari
Samiti Maryadit Raunda in Dhamdha after finding anomalies in the stock.
The Food Department, Cooperative Department and Cooperative Bank officials had recently conducted inspection in the said society along with its procurement centre during which 560.28 quintal of paddy worth Rs 13.27 lakh procured in previous Kharif Marketing Year and 2,103 hessian bags worth Rs 1.80 lakh were found missing. Notably, around a fortnight ago, a similar case was registered against a PACS In-charge at Jamgaon (R). On May 29 last month, the joint team of officials conducted surprise inspection at PACS Raunda and its procurement centre at Raunda during which the officials found anomalies in the stock.
The team comprised of Assistant Food Officer Shashi Singh, Food Inspector Sudha Mahilang and Cooperative Inspector Prajay Soni. As per the record maintained in the society, in the Kharif Marketing
Year 2025-26, 73,952 quintals of paddy was procured from the farmers on minimum support price out of which rice millers lifted 65,657 quintals paddy for custom milling while 7,678 quintals was sent to paddy storage centre. During physical verification, the officials noted that 560.28 quintals paddy worth Rs 13.27 lakh and 2,103 hessian bags worth Rs 1.80 lakh were missing from the society and procurement centre as well. Its report was submitted by the team conducting inspection before the Chief Executive Officer of District Cooperative Central bank Limited, Durg who had directed for lodging police complaint. Dhamdha police have registered a case against the society in-charge Jagdeesh Kumar Navrange, a resident of Pendravan under section 316 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and arrested him.
