Bargi police have seized a tractor-trolley loaded with illegally mined sand and arrested its driver during a patrolling operation conducted in the Bargi Nagar area. According to SHO, Bargi Nilesh Dohare, police received a tip-off during night patrol about the illegal transportation of sand. Acting on the information, a police team intercepted a Swaraj tractor with an attached trolley near Vehicle Mod in Bargi Nagar.
During questioning, the driver identified himself as Ramswaroop Bhoomiya (46), a resident of Basaha village under Gaur outpost. The trolley was found loaded with sand.
When asked to produce documents related to the sand and its transportation, the driver admitted that the sand had been illegally extracted from the Narmada River at Basaha Ghat and was being transported for sale without any royalty permit or valid mining documents.
Police investigation revealed that the tractor-trolley belonged
to Kaushal Patel, a resident of Hinota and had been hired by the driver. However, no documents regarding the rental arrangement or lawful
transportation of the sand were produced.
The police seized the tractor-trolley along with the illegally transported sand and registered a case against driver Ramswaroop Bhoomiya and vehicle owner Kaushal Patel under Sections 303(2), 317(5), and 3(5) of BNS, provisions of Sections 4 and 21 of the Mines and Minerals Act and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. While the driver has been apprehended, efforts are underway to trace and arrest tractor owner Kaushal Patel.
