Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh held a meeting with senior officials and engineers of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) to review work related to water-logging prevention, pothole-free roads and beautification of the city. During the meeting, the Mayor said that patchwork and resurfacing of major city roads will begin within three days. He also approved fresh tarring works worth Rs 5 crore. Officials were directed to begin approved paver block works worth another Rs 5 crore within seven days. On the issue of waterlogging, the Mayor said that L&T Company is laying pipelines parallel to the city’s major drains at a fast pace. This modern drainage system will ensure quick water discharge during the monsoon season and provide major relief to residents of low-lying areas.

The Mayor directed that widening of Gohalpur culvert be completed by September. An additional Rs 25 lakh has been approved for beautification of the area around the bridge. Singh also gave his nod for works worth Rs 30 lakh each under corporator recommendations to begin from June 15. This will help speed up ward-level works related to drains, internal roads and street lighting. The Mayor warned that negligence in development works will not be tolerated and all approved projects must be completed on time with quality. Mayor-in-Council members along with Additional Commissioner V N Bajpai, Superintending Engineer Kamlesh Shrivastava, Executive Engineers Shailendra Mishra, Shailendra Kaurav, all divisional and assistant engineers were present during the meeting.
