Staff Reporter :
Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar reviewed the progress of ongoing works under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT Phase 2.0) scheme and directed officials to complete all pending restoration work before the monsoon arrives.
The Municipal Commissioner said that in all areas where drinking water distribution work is currently underway, road and surface restoration must be completed at the earliest. He gave similar directions for areas where pipeline extension and water supply scheme work is in progress. Officials were told to ensure restoration work is done quickly and with quality, keeping commuter convenience in mind.
It may be noted that the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation is laying drinking water supply line from Tilwara to Ranjhi under Amrut Phase 2.0. Following the work most of the main routes in the city are dug up for the pipeline. If the channels are not restored early, it will prove dear to denizens during rains.
Hence, the JMC administration has asked officials to expedite the restoration before it would create situation during monsoon.
The Municipal Commissioner stressed that all construction and repair works across the city must be finished before the rains begin. He said infrastructure works at major and sensitive locations must also be wrapped up in time so that residents do not face waterlogging or traffic disruption during the monsoon.
He also made clear that speed alone will not be accepted. He said the quality of work must be high and durable. He directed field officers to carry out regular site visits and monitor contractors on a daily basis. Additional Commissioner Arvind Shah, Superintending Engineer Kamlesh Shrivastava and other senior officials were present.
