THE Surgery Department, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College achieved national recognition at the Tata Memorial Centre (ACTREC) in Mumbai, one of the nation’s most prestigious and premier cancer institutes. Dr Sanjay Yadav, renowned Breast, Thyroid and Endocrine Surgeon from NSCBMC, was invited as a chief guest faculty at the recently organised National Masterclass and Live Operative Workshop at Tata Memorial.
During this national workshop, Dr Yadav conducted a live surgical demonstration and provided detailed insights regarding the advanced ‘Chemo Port’ (Chemotherapy Port) technique, which simplifies and improves the treatment process for
cancer patients.
Dr Yadav explained that standard chemotherapy sessions involving repeated intravenous needle sticks often weaken the veins of patients, causing severe pain and distress.
As a solution to this recurring issue, the ‘Chemo Port’ technology acts as a significant boon.
The device is a small implantable device fitted beneath the skin, usually near the chest, via a minor, brief surgical procedure. It allows medical professionals to administer chemotherapy drugs directly into the system without causing pain or discomfort to the patient.
Beyond saving patients from the agony of repeated needle pricks, the technique substantially reduces the risk of infections. The device can safely remain inside the body for up to two years and can be utilised continuously for injections.
This advanced medical facility is actively operational and available at NSCBMC, Jabalpur.
Dr Yadav’s live demonstration and presentation earned
high praise among elite surgeons and leading breast cancer
specialists gathered from across the country.
Following this national presentation, Dean, NSCBMC, Professor Dr Navneet Saxena, along with Superintendent, Dr Arvind Sharma, Dr Richa
Sharma and others congratulated Dr Yadav.
They commended his contributions toward advancing breast cancer treatment methodologies in the region.
