THREE senior citizens of the city — Vishwas Chati, Uday Panwalkar and Dilip Bire — are all set to undertake one of the world’s most adventurous cycling expeditions, the Manali–Leh–Khardungla (MLK) Cycling Expedition. The expedition will start on July 4. Before embarking on this challenging journey, the cyclists representing Tiger City Cycling Association (TCCA), Nagpur, sought blessings of Lord Ganesha at Ganesh Tekdi Temple, and dispatched their bicycles to Manali. They will be joined by six cyclists from Mumbai and three cyclists from Pune, making a team of twelve cyclists. The expedition will begin from Manali on July 4 2026 under the leadership of renowned cyclist Satish Jadhao. For Chati, this will be his second MLK expedition. He successfully completed the same route in 2021, along with Pradip Deshpande and Jayant Mendhi, soon after the COVID-19 pandemic. During the expedition, the team will conquer some of the highest mountain passes in the Himalayas, including: Rohtang Pass – 13,058 ft, Baralacha La – 16,040 ft, Nakee La – 15,547 ft, Tanglang La – 17,582 ft, Khardung La – 17,983 ft, currently regarded as one of the world’s highest motorable roads. The expedition will conclude at Khardung La, after which the team will return to Nagpur on July 18.
