STATE Congress President Deepak Baij, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former Ministers Dr Shiv Dahariya and Dhanendra Sahu, and District Congress Presidents Shreekumar Shankar Menon and Rajendra Pappu Banjare met the affected villagers of Nakti village in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar on Tuesday. The administration removed encroachments at Nakti village yesterday. State Congress President Deepak Baij said that the Congress opposes the demolition of poor people’s homes in Nakti village. People have been living there for 40 years; the government could build MLA colonies elsewhere.

Hundreds of acres of land could be allotted in Nava Raipur for Rs 1 per foot. MLA colonies could be built there. The State government is anti-poor. This is an atrocity. The Congress party demands immediate rehabilitation of the poor. Those whose houses were demolished should be given houses, he added. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel stated that the homes of many poor families in Nakti village were destroyed due to the actions of the sadistic BJP government. Any form of injustice against the poor and vulnerable sections cannot be tolerated. The Congress party’s struggle to secure justice for the affected families and protect their rights will continue with full commitment. The Congress party stands with them at every step of this fight for justice and rights, he said.
