Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar visited the Pariyat Reservoir early Tuesday morning to review arrangements for the city’s drinking water supply. He was accompanied by Additional Commissioner Saurabh Mishra and other senior officials. The Municipal Commissioner inspected ongoing work at the reservoir and directed officials to complete it on priority. The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has deployed a 45-member team along with modern machinery to improve the water supply system. During inspection Ahirwar said ensuring regular and safe drinking water for citizens is the civic body’s top priority. He said the entire team is working round the clock to ensure there is no disruption in water supply.

During the visit, Municipal Commissioner and officials also offered prayers to Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman and Lord Indra, seeking good rainfall for the city. It may be noted that the Pariyat reservoir, one of the biggest source of water supply to the city, especially Ranjhi and adjoining area is drying up fast. Water level of the reservoir sank to near dangerous level. The condition had led to water rationing in Ranjhi area. Due to the same, the civic body is supplying potable water to the denizens of Ranjhi and adjoining areas on alternate days. Executive Engineer (Water) Kamlesh Shrivastava, G S Maravi, Assistant Engineers Rajesh Khamparia, Anurag Pathak, Ankur Nag and Amjad Khan Mansoori, along with technical staff, were present at the site to monitor the work and resolve technical issues.
