Staff Reporter :
LARGEparts of Madhya Pradesh,
particularly the central, western,
and northern regions, are staring at a persistent dry spell over
the next four days. The latest
satellite and meteorological data
released by the Meteorological
Centre Bhopal reveal that multiple districts including Bhopal,
Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior are
likely to experience completely
dry weather through July 15.
While the monsoon trough continues to pass through northern
plains via Rohtak and
Shahjahanpur, its current alignment leaves a significant portion of the state without any
active rain-bearing systems, forcing a gradual rise in day temperatures across the region.
Monsoon weakens as scattered
activity shifts to eastern belts:
Monsoon activity remained subdued and highly localised, with
rainfall recorded at many places
only in the Rewa division.
Isolated to scattered showers
were observed in the Chambal,
Shahdol, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and
Sagar divisions, while the rest of
the state remained dry. The highest rainfall was recorded at
Rampur with 63.0 mm, followed
closely by Ater at 54.0 mm, Rewa
at 44.0 mm, and Bhind at 43.0
mm.
Other notable localised
spells occurred in Rampur
Baghelan and Raipura. Despite
these isolated bursts, a massive
portion of the state experienced
zero precipitation, marking the
beginning of an extended break
in typical monsoon downpours. Temperatures set to rise by 2 to 3 degrees across State: The ongoing dry spell is expected to push temperatures upward across Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has forecast a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2°C to 3°C over the next two days, after which the weather conditions are expected to stabilise without any large variation. Maximum temperatures remained largely normal across most divisions, dipping slightly below normal only in Rewa and Shahdol. Khajuraho in the Chhatarpur district recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 35.8°C, while Gwalior reached 35.4°C and Sheopur touched 35.0°C. Meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Khargone at 19.4°C, followed by Pachmarhi at 20.4°C. Severe windstorms and thunderstorm alerts in southern border districts:
Even as dry conditions dominate the central plains, severe localised weather systems triggered high-velocity winds in the northern and eastern boundaries. Morena was battered by a severe storm featuring gusty winds reaching up to 76 km/h, while Gwalior, Shivpuri, and Sidhi clocked wind speeds exceeding 40 km/h. Weather department has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging between 40 to 50 km/h at isolated places. Partly cloudy skies and humid weather forecast for Bhopal Region: The capital city of Bhopal and its immediate neighbourhoods will continue to experience a break from heavy monsoon showers, with the dry phase remaining firmly established. The local forecast indicates a partly cloudy sky with only a slight possibility of a evening thunderstorm.
