RAIPUR :
A MEETING of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP), chaired by CLP leader Dr Charan Das Mahant, was held on Sunday evening at the official residence of the Leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly at Shanti Nagar to finalise strategy for the monsoon session beginning tomorrow. State Congress PresidentDeepak Baij, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former Deputy Chief Minister T S Singhdeo, former ministers Ravindra Choubey, Mohammad Akbar, Satyanarayan Sharma, Amitesh Shukla and Guru Rudra Kumar, along with senior party leaders and MLAs, attended the meeting. During the session, leaders discussed the party’s approach to raising public-interest issues in the Assembly, including the demolition of houses in Nakti village and the ongoing power crisis.
Strategies were drawn up to press these matters and other local concerns during the monsoon session, party sources said. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr Mahant said the CLP had reviewed the party’s preparedness and would vigorously highlight issues affecting the public in the House. It was decided in the meeting to bring no-confidence motions against the BJP in the House during the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. The Congress has no faith in the BJP government in the State. Their promises are hollow, and their government is riddled with corruption. The public is distressed over various issues. A five-day session is hardly sufficient, but as the opposition, the Congress party accepts it. The opposition Congress will remain aggressive regarding issues such as electricity, inflation, and the demolition of houses of poor villagers at Nakti village in Nava Raipur. Congress will move an adjournment motion regarding the Nakti issue. Congress will do whatever it takes to voice its concerns. There will also be protests in the House regarding this issue. The Congress will fight on issues concerning both the House and the streets, he added.
