A terrifying daylight knife attack shook the Bairagarh locality on Monday afternoon, leaving a local businessman critically injured outside his residence. Neeraj Jinyani, a 45-year-old cloth merchant who operates a retail matching centre near Seva Sadan, was seated on his stationary scooter when two unidentified youths blindsided him. Without any verbal altercation or visible provocation, the suspects attacked the trader from behind, plunging a knife into his back in full public view. CCTV footage exposes graphic sequence of knife assault Newly recovered closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident captured the graphic sequence of the assault. The recording shows the perpetrators stabbing Jinyani twice within a matter of seconds. The force of the second blow left the knife firmly wedged in the merchant’s back, forcing the assailants to abandon the weapon and flee the spot. Despite sustaining deep and life-threatening wounds, Jinyani displayed immense resilience, managing to run nearly 20 feet to escape his attackers before collapsing on the street.

Immediate medical intervention and on-site forensic inquiry Shocked bystanders and local residents quickly rushed to the bleeding merchant’s aid, immediately transporting him to a nearby private hospital where he is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment. Upon receiving news of the assault, Bairagarh Station House Officer Inspector Ashok Gautam led a police team to secure the crime scene. A specialised forensic unit was also dispatched to the spot to gather physical fingerprints, analyse the trajectory of the attack, and recover the weapon abandoned by the suspects. Police investigate pre-planned assault and scan local networks Preliminary findings by investigators strongly suggest that the assault was carefully orchestrated and pre-planned, given that the suspects targeted Jinyani directly and focused solely on executing the stabbing before making a rapid escape. Inspector Ashok Gautam stated that the exact motive behind the crime remains unclear as the victim’s critical medical condition has prevented officers from recording his formal statement.
