Around 40 farm labourers were injured when a pickup vehicle carrying them overturned near Alasur Simariya village on Lamkana Road under the jurisdiction of Sihora police station Wednesday morning.
According to Sihora police, the accident took place at around 11 am when the labourers were travelling from Amadi village near Bahoriband to Lahod village to work in paddy transplantation fields. The driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to overtake a tractor, causing the pickup to veer off the road and overturn. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Following the incident, all the injured labourers were rushed to Sihora Government Hospital with the help of 108 ambulance services.
The sudden arrival of a large number of injured persons created a rush at the hospital, where doctors and medical staff provided immediate treatment.
Some of the injured have been identfieid as Priyanka, Lal Chaudhary, Manisha Bai, Jayanti
Bai, Nandkishore, Rajkumari, Sudama Bai, Lali Bai, Santra Bai, Ashish Chaudhary, Savita, Gomti, Sulochana, Rajeev Chaudhary and Deepak Chaudhary and others.
Hospital authorities said most of the injured sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment. Family members of the victims rushed to the hospital after receiving information about the accident. Sihora Police have registered the case and started investigation into the incident and apprehending the absconding driver.
