Nagpur district has enrolled 1,75,956 new beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) over the past three months, taking the total number of eligible beneficiaries to 19,88,483, significantly expanding access to cashless healthcare for economically weaker families. Under the flagship health insurance scheme, eligible families are entitled to cashless medical treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year at empanelled hospitals for a wide range of serious illnesses and procedures. According to the district administration, the enrolment drive gathered pace under the guidance of Kumar Ashirwad, District Collector, Nagpur, who coordinated efforts with the Health Department, District Council and Nagpur Municipal Corporation to strengthen beneficiary identification and issuance of Ayushman Bharat e-cards.

The achievement drew appreciation from Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, and Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur, who lauded the district administration for widening the scheme’s reach. They urged officials to ensure that every eligible citizen is covered so that no poor family is deprived of quality medical treatment due to financial constraints. The administration has appealed to all eligible residents who are yet to obtain their Ayushman Bharat e-card to complete the enrolment process at the earliest so they can avail themselves of the scheme’s health insurance benefits whenever required.
