Though Journalism is not a very rewarding profession monetarily, the simplicity of living can help achieve greatness in life,” said Banwarilal Purohit, former Governor, and National President, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, on Thursday. He was speaking at a programme jointly organised by Vidarbha chapter of Sahitya Bharati, and Sai Jyoti Publication for the launch of three volumes of Ayushyatil Sangati’, authored by Avinash Pathak, Senior Journalist from the city. Rahul Pande, State Chief Information Officer, was present as chief guest for the programme, held at Navdrushti Sabhagruha, Blind School. Prakash Edlabadkar, noted Literary critic; Vinay Mahurkar from Sahitya Bharati; Ganesh Raut, Chief of Sai Jyoti Publication also shared the dais.
 
The series of books is a collection of articles written by Pathak recounting the experience with great many personalities that he acquainted during his 54 years of professional life. Banwarilal Purohit in his address further underscored the importance of hard work and simplicity for achieving success in life. “Journalism is only profession that can bring betterment to the society,” he emphasised The former Governor also advised young journalists to never compromise with their thoughts, character, and work without fear, adding that only fearless work of a journalist earns respect and recognition from the society. He also suggested all the senior citizens to be very cautious in their behavior, as there are many youngsters who follows their action. Purohit advised them to eat half, walk double, laugh triple, and love without measure to live a longer and fulfilling life. Rahul Pande in his address, acknowledged the work of Pathak in successfully penning down the history of political and social changes that he felt through interactions with many personalities over the years.
 
“Journalism is the only profession that allows you to meet ordinary as well as extra-ordinary personalities in society,” said Pande. The State Chief Information Commissioner also stated that it’s high time that the next generation of Journalists to pick up the pen and start writing by taking inspiration from Pathak. Prakash Edlabadkar, in his keynote address, called the collection of books ‘a social history’ of city and Vidarbha. Avinash Pathak credited Banwarilal Purohit for existence of these books, as it was Purohit who first suggested collecting all the articles and publish them in a book form. Dr Pragati Waghmare compered the programme while Dr Ganesh Chavan proposed a vote of thanks.
