Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated and dedicated the redevelopment works of 75 railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Redevelopment works at Champa, Balod, and Sarona railway stations in Chhattisgarh were also virtually inaugurated. Governor Ramen Deka was the chief guest in the programme at Sarona railway station.
Addressing the programme, Governor Ramen Deka commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Railways, stating that under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, railway stations are being developed to be modern, safe, and accessible to persons with disabilities, while also reflecting local cultural identity.
He stated that the revamped Sarona railway station represents not merely the inauguration of a building, but a
symbol of the new mindset,
new momentum, and development-oriented work culture of a new India. The modern
amenities developed here will ensure better services for passengers, and the station will also showcase the cultural identity of Chhattisgarh.
He stated that work is underway on several significant projects to expand railway infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, which will provide fresh impetus to industry, trade, agriculture, tourism, and employment.
Given the continuous expansion of Raipur, the modernisation of Sarona station will play a crucial role in meeting the growing transportation needs of the capital region. He stated that this project is a significant step towards realising the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. The Governor urged citizens to cooperate with the railway administration in maintaining the station’s cleanliness, security, and orderliness. Raipur Lok Sabha Member Brijmohan Agrawal also spoke on the occasion. The Governor distributed prizes and certificates to the student winners of drawing, painting, and essay competitions organised for schoolchildren under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. On this occasion, the schoolchildren also presented cultural performances. Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey, General Manager of South East Central Railway Bilaspur Zone Tarun Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager of Raipur division Dayanand, public representatives, students and people in large number were present on the occasion.
