Girl rescued after informing police while being taken to Indore in a car

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly sold by her own mother for Rs 23,000 with the help of her lover and forced to marry a man from Madhya Pradesh. The girl managed to inform Kelwad Police while she was being taken to Indore, following which the police rescued her. Police have registered a case against eight persons, including the girl’s mother. According to the police, the minor girl Punam (name changed), lives in Kelwad Police Station area. She had studied up to Class VIII and was staying at home.

Her father has been living separately from the family for the last two years. Police said the girl’s mother had been in a relationship with a man named Vakil for the past two months. Vakil called the woman on her phone on Friday morning and asked her to come to Nayakund village. The mother and daughter went there and later met the girl’s aunt near Mayo Hospital in Nagpur. Soon, the other accused arrived in a car and all of them went to Koradi Temple. Police said the mother forced the girl to marry Ravi Ramprasad Yadav.

After the marriage, Vakil left the spot while the others started travelling to Indore in a car. During the journey, the girl came to know that her mother had allegedly accepted Rs 23,000 in exchange of marrying her off. She protested and somehow informed Kelwad Police. Police quickly traced the vehicle and rescued the girl. Police then detained all those travelling in the car. Based on the girl’s complaint, Kelwad Police have booked her mother, Vakil, Ravi Ramprasad Yadav, Ramprasad Yadav, Sanjay Ratan Parmar, Rajesh Ganpat Bachhangi, Dhulhesing Gajabsing Kachhvaya, and Khala Chachi.
