Cops detain NSUI In-charge

Staff Reporter :

Tension flared at Rani Durgavati University (RDU) after the police detained National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) University In-charge Achal Nath and several student activists who were on their way to submit a memorandum outlining serious student grievances to the Chief Minister on Wednesday. The preventive action by law enforcement has sparked widespread outrage among the students community, with many accusing the administration of actively suppressing the voices of the youth. According to NSUI leaders, the delegation intended to stage a completely peaceful and democratic demonstration to bring urgent campus issues to the Chief Minister’s attention. The NSUI members were demanding for an impartial, high-level inquiry into the examination evaluation process within the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Department, immediate resolution of long-pending student scholarship issues and a fair investigation and strict action regarding a complaint registered by a female student.

Speaking on the detentions, NSUI In-Charge Nath strongly condemned the police intervention, emphasising that under a democratic framework, every citizen and student holds the fundamental right to peacefully convey their grievances to the government. The NSUI leadership clarified that their objective was not to incite confrontation but rather to ensure transparency, justice, and administrative accountability within Rani Durgavati University. Representatives warned that if the university administration and State Government fail to address these critical student issues swiftly, the organisation will intensify its agitation using all available constitutional and democratic means.
