SHAURYA Group emerged as winners in the Pandit Deendayalji Upadhyay Memorial Children’s World Swimming Premier League Swimming Competition that concluded recently. Though many swimmers from the Shaurya Group won individual prizes, Sahas Group bagged the rolling trophy based on their performance for the last three months. A total of 170 trainee students divided into four groups — Sahas Group (Captain Piyush Ghui, Mrunal Chatur), Shaurya Group (Captain Chetan Bavankar, Gargi Kavishwar), Veer Group (Captain Siddesh Nemad, Preeti Gaonkar) and Parakram (Captain Nikhil Bande, Parni Sontakke).

 

Advika Gomase, Diya Dhanorkar, Pratiksha Bonde, Vihan Rathod, Viman Baghel, Yug Manvatkar, Aadya Moghe, Shravani Deshmukh, Hamsaiti Reyang, Samrat Jog, Swanand Pingle, Himanshu Petkar, Meera Meghe, Arnav Kothari, Hira Mallewar, Swarajya Kumbhalkar, Mukesh Thakre, Piyush Shinde were honoured with medals and certificates. NMC Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhare was chief guest of the prize distribution function. Addressing the gathering, she said that the work of inculcating culture in the minds of children was very necessary and major responsibility for the same lies with the parents, teachers and coaches. The programme was conducted by Secretary Sanjay Bhakre and Harish Joglekar. Meeratai Khadkar and Jayantrao Joshi were prominently present. Anuja Parchure, Head of Bal Jagat Project, led the organising committee that included Rani Pathak, Nikita Lute, Sayali Jatkar and Manjiri Ghate.
