Gudhiyari police have arrested two women for allegedly blackmailing a man by threatening to circulate his obscene photographs and videos on social media and extorting approximately Rs 2.17 lakh from him.
According to police, the complainant alleged that a woman known to him invited him to her residence, where
she and another woman allegedly mixed an intoxicating substance
into his liquor. After he lost consciousness, the accused allegedly captured compromising photographs and videos of him.
Police said the women subsequently threatened to circulate the photos and videos on social media and send them to the complainant’s family members unless he paid them money.
Fearing public humiliation, the complainant allegedly transferred around Rs 2.17 lakh to the accused on different occasions through PhonePe and other UPI payment platforms.
Based on the complaint, Gudhiyari police registered Crime No 265/2026 under Sections 308(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Mayank Gurjar, investigators examined mobile phone chats, banking transactions, PhonePe/UPI records and other electronic evidence. After collecting sufficient evidence, police arrested both accused women.
The mobile phones and other electronic evidence allegedly used in the commission of the offence were
seized from the accused. Following legal formalities, both women were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
