ON THE eve of International Chess Day, that is celebrated on July 20 everyyear,the 3rdMKH Sancheti Inter-School Chess Championship was organised by Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and MKH Sancheti College in association with Chess Association Nagpur at MKH Sancheti College, Hindustan Colony,Wardha Road. VedNeeraj Phaur won the overall winner’s trophy in boys group with 7.5 points out of 8.In the girls group,Anvika Ghodeswar clinched the girls winnertrophy withascore of seven points out of eight. Asmanyas214schoolchildren acrossvariousschoolsofNagpur participated in the event. Attractivetrophieswere given to the top performers in each age group. Prizes were distributed at the hands of Darshini Dhawad, Corporator & Chairman of Sports Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Sheetal Kathale, Vice-Principal, MKH Sancheti Junior College.Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur, SS Soman, Member of MCA Observer Committee and IA Shiva Iyer were present on the dais. Attractive trophies were distributed to top finish ersin Under15, 13, 11, 9and Under-7 groups inboys as well as girls categories. Celebrating the International Chess Day, all participants were given certificates, medals and offered sweets.
