A 30-year-old man was brutally murdered by his in-laws at Pandurang Nagar over property dispute under the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station. Police have arrested one of his relatives in connection with the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Akhilesh Guddu Dhurve (30), a resident of Vaishnodevi Nagar. The accused are identified as Deenanath Nirmalkar (30), Santosh Gaygowal (50), and Lakshmi Patel, all residents of Pandurang Nagar.
According to police, Deenanath is Akhilesh’s nephew-in-law, while Santosh and Lakshmi are his uncle-in-law and aunt-in-law.
Police said Akhilesh was married to Achal, daughter of Tulsibai Gaygowal (65), who owns property in Pandurang Nagar and lives alone.
There had reportedly been frequent arguments between Akhilesh and his mother-in-law over the property.
Akhilesh and his wife went to Tulsibai’s house on Sunday around 10.30 pm, where the three accused also were present. During the visit, Akhilesh allegedly demanded a share in the property. The discussion soon escalated into a heated argument. Police claimed that he abused Tulsibai and tried to assault her.
Following the confrontation, Deenanath allegedly hit Akhilesh with a cricket bat. Santosh and Lakshmi then joined the assault. They reportedly attacked him with a
wooden rod and ‘Tikas’. Akhilesh suffered severe injuries and collapsed. Akhilesh’s wife rushed him to Mayo Hospital, from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police team reached the spot soon.
One of the accused persons were arrested shortly afterwards. Police have registered a case of murder.
