Industry leaders and shop-floor professionals came together on Saturday for a day-long training session, “Kaizen Forever,” held at the Plasto Tanks & Pipes plant here. The programme was organised by CIMCON Management Foundation in association with Plasto Tanks & Pipes and Truform. The session was conducted by K Yoshino, a global Kaizen consultant and author of the book “Kaizen Forever.” A total of 55 participants from eight companies, including CEOs, plant heads, managers, and engineers, attended the session. The event began with a classroom briefing on the principles of Genba, Kaizen, and the Toyota Production System.

 

This was followed by a Genba walk on the Tanks & Pipes production line at the Plasto plant. Speaking at the session, Yoshino emphasized, “Kaizen is not just a tool, it’s a mindset. Let’s build it.” Officials associated with the event said the exercise was designed to demonstrate that Kaizen begins with direct observation on the factory floor, not just in boardroom discussions. Post the floor observations, participants reconvened for a structured discussion to convert findings into actionable improvement plans.

 

Tools such as the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle and root-cause analysis were used. Teams identified standard-work sequencing through spaghetti charts as a priority area to address motion waste, while process steps were flagged for review against the line's takt time to reduce processing waste. Participants noted that the cross-company format of the session provided a rare opportunity to benchmark practices and learn collectively on a single shop floor. The “Kaizen Forever” session forms part of a broader initiative by CIMCON Management Foundation to promote 10x growth and continuous-improvement practices among industrial units in the region.
