IN A major success under the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, security forces recovered a cache of ammunition, BGL shells, cordex wire and other Maoist materials from a Naxal dump hidden in the forested hilly area between Alparas and Gumchur villages on the Koylibeda Police Station limits along the KankerNarayanpur border. The operation was carried out under the direction of Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Badri Narayan Meena (IPS) and the guidance of DIG BSF Bhanupratappur Deepak Tiwari, Kanker Superintendent of Police Nikhil Rakhecha, and Commandant of 40th Battalion BSF Randhir Singh Gill. A joint team of DRG, BSF and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) conducted the intensive search operation in the sensitive border region.

 

During the operation, the security forces recovered 42 INSAS rifle rounds, 48 rounds of .303 rifle ammunition, 23 SLR rounds, 34 rounds of 8 mm ammunition, 8 rounds of .315 blank ammunition, 8 BGL (Bullet Grenade Launcher) shells, 10 detonators, 10 metres of cordex wire, 4 metres of camouflage cloth, medicines and other Maoist-related materials. The recovery was made during a search operation in the forested hill area between Alparas and Gumchur villages. Considering safety protocols, the BDS team safely defused and destroyed the recovered BGL shells, detonators and cordex wire at the spot. Police stated that joint anti-Naxal operations will continue in the Maoist-affected border areas, with intensified search operations aimed at maintaining peace and security in the region.
