TWO lost their lives in a tragic road accident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday on Central Avenue in Bhilai Township. The incident took place around 4:00 am on Central Avenue Road, near Gundicha Mandap, while the car was heading towards Globe Chowk. According to SHO Bhilai Nagar Police Station, Jitendra Verma, it appeared that the car was over speeding when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and rammed into a roadside tree with attack on democratic values and the constitutional right to freedom of expression. The protesters demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him morally responsible for the incident. They also called for an impartial judicial inquiry, strict action against those responsible for the alleged use of force, and concrete measures to ensure the safety and security of doctors and medical students in the future. JDA Raipur president Piyush Srivastava said junior doctors across the country stand united in protecting the dignity and rights of their colleagues, adding that such incidents have no place in a democratic society.

 

JDA Chhattisgarh president Resham Singh described the use of force against trainee doctors engaged in a peaceful protest as deeply unfortunate and deserving of strong condemnation. JDA member Swastik urged the government to end its policy of suppression, initiate dialogue with the protesting trainee doctors, and resolve their concerns with respect and sensitivity. CIDA president Anjan Singh Chauhan said violence against members of the medical fraternity is unacceptable and asserted that doctors across the country stand firmly with trainee doctors. He added that there can be no compromise when it comes to the dignity and safety of medical professionals. Chhattisgarh Doctors Federation president Heera Singh Lodhi said the medical community has always upheld constitutional and democratic values. He termed the use of force against peacefully protesting student-doctors highly condemnable and demanded that the Central Government fix accountability and take strict action against those responsible. At the end of the protest, the participating doctors reaffirmed their solidarity with medical students and doctors across the country and reiterated their demand for justice, dignity, and a safe academic environment.
