post. Governor and Chancellor
of the university, Mangubhai
Patel, has accepted the resignation with immediate effect.
To ensure uninterrupted
administrative and academic
operations, Additional Chief
Secretary (ACS) of the Higher
Education Department, Anupam
Rajan, has been given the additional charge of Vice-Chancellor
until a regular appointment is
made.
According to the official order
issued by Raj Bhavan (Lok
Bhavan, Bhopal) on July 23, 2026,
Professor Vivek Sharma, Dean,
who was nominated to perform
the duties of Vice-Chancellor via
an earlier order dated June 19,
2026, submitted his resignation
on July 22, 2026.
Accepting the resignation with
immediate effect, the Chancellor
cancelled the previous assignment order.
Notably, Professor Vivek
Sharma’s tenure as ViceChancellor lasted just over a
month.
He was originally appointed to
the post on June 19, after
Governor Mangubhai Patel
accepted the resignation of the
then Vice-Chancellor, Professor
S K Jain. Exercising powers under
the Madhya Pradesh
Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam,
1973, the Governor had nominated Professor Sharma, who
was serving as Dean of the
Faculty of Management, to discharge the duties of ViceChancellor untill a permanent
appointment was made.
In a temporary arrangement,
ACS Anupam Rajan will
manage the responsibilities
of BU Vice-Chancellor alongside his current administrative duties in the Higher
Education Department at
Mantralaya until further
orders.
Raj Bhavan’s order noted that
this interim measure aims to
maintain smooth
academic and administrative
functioning at the university,
while the official order
remained silent on the specific reasons behind Professor
Sharma’s sudden resignation.
