JUNIOR doctors and medical practitioners staged a symbolic protest at the campus of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College (PtJNMMC) in Raipur on late Wednesday evening, condemning the alleged lathi-charge and police action against trainee doctors during their protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Holding the national flag and placards, the protesting doctors expressed solidarity with trainee doctors across the country and denounced the use of force against what they described as a peaceful demonstration. They said the incident represented an attack on democratic values and the constitutional right to freedom of expression. The protesters demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him morally responsible for the incident. They also called for an impartial judicial inquiry, strict action against those responsible for the alleged use of force, and concrete measures to ensure the safety and security of doctors and medical students in the future. JDA Raipur president Piyush Srivastava said junior doctors across the country stand united in protecting the dignity and rights of their colleagues, adding that such incidents have no place in a democratic society.

 

JDA Chhattisgarh president Resham Singh described the use of force against trainee doctors engaged in a peaceful protest as deeply unfortunate and deserving of strong condemnation. JDA member Swastik urged the government to end its policy of suppression, initiate dialogue with the protesting trainee doctors, and resolve their concerns with respect and sensitivity. CIDA president Anjan Singh Chauhan said violence against members of the medical fraternity is unacceptable and asserted that doctors across the country stand firmly with trainee doctors. He added that there can be no compromise when it comes to the dignity and safety of medical professionals. Chhattisgarh Doctors Federation president Heera Singh Lodhi said the medical community has always upheld constitutional and democratic values. He termed the use of force against peacefully protesting student-doctors highly condemnable and demanded that the Central Government fix accountability and take strict action against those responsible. At the end of the protest, the participating doctors reaffirmed their solidarity with medical students and doctors across the country and reiterated their demand for justice, dignity, and a safe academic environment.
