Service officer Ashok Barnwal
of the 1991 batch officially took
charge as the 36th Chief
Secretary of Madhya Pradesh
on Thursday.
He succeeds outgoing Chief
Secretary Anurag Jain, who
handed over the responsibilities of the State’s top bureaucratic post in the Chief
Secretary’s office at Mantralaya.
The transition follows formal orders issued by the
General Administration
Department (GAD) on
Wednesday, July 22. The
appointment came alongside
news from the Central
Government, which appointed the outgoing Chief Secretary,
Anurag Jain, as the Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI
Aayog on the same day
