A JOINT team of the Revenue, Food Safety and Police departments sealed two water packaging plants Aqua Oceanal and Unnati Enterprises in Nayagaon Mandwa Basti after serious irregularities were found during an inspection. The inspection was conducted on the instructions of Collector Raghavendra Singh following complaints received by the district administration regarding the alleged illegal operation of the two water packaging units. According to SDM, Gorakhpur, Anurag Singh, officials found that both plants did not possess valid FSSAI licences required for operation. The units also lacked licences for water filtration activities.

 

During the inspection, it was found that the plants were operating only with distribution licences and were allegedly using stickers of different brands, including Sheetal Jal, Paras and Badkul, on packaged water bottles. Food Safety officials collected samples of packaged water from both plants for laboratory testing. As the units were found operating without the required approvals and licences, both plants were sealed on the spot. Further action will be taken based on the test reports and findings of the investigation, officials said.
