THE Nagpur Skill Centre, established with the objective of creating a skilled workforce to meet the growing needs of industries in Vidarbha, will be inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday, July 26 at 11 am. The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Kaushalya Vikas Kendra, near Prajapati Nagar Metro Station at Pardi. This was disclosed by Ashish Kale, President, Association for Industrial Development (AID) while speaking at a press conference here on Friday. Executive Body Members of AID were also present at the meeting.

 

He said that the Nagpur Skill Centre has been established through the joint efforts of the Association for Industrial Development (AID), Tata STRIVE, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), the Skill India Mission and the Vidarbha Global Foundation. Mayor Nita Thackeray will preside over the inaugural function. Revenue Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of State Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, Rajya Sabha Member Maya Ivanate, Members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, office-bearers of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and several other dignitaries will attend the ceremony. Spread over 30,000 square feet on a 1.25-acre campus, the Nagpur Skill Centre has the capacity to train nearly 2,000 youth every year. The facility has been designed to equip young people with industry-relevant skills through employment-oriented programmes creating a pool of industry-ready professionals, Kale added.
