MOHAMMED Ibrahim, Mohammed Fuzail and Msauayab Jamal found the back of the net once each as MM Rabbani School thrashed DPS Kamptee 3-0 to take the District-Level Subroto Mukherjee Inter-School Football Tournament title in the boy’s Under-15 Rural category at the SFS College ground on Saturday. Starting the game on a highly energetic note, Rabbani’s Jamal in the defence, snatched the ball off DPS Kamptee’s Naksh Murmare near the half line and shot it up towards team-mate Ibrahim. Ibrahim then dribbled the ball past three Kamptee defenders to shoot the ball into the goal from the left far corner of the D to make it 1-0 in the third minute. In the ninth minute, Rabbani’s Mohammed Areeb tackled Kamptee’s Himanshu Khadatkar, winning the ball and passing it to Fuzail who made no mistake and shot the ball straight into the goal which brushed the goalkeeper’s glove from behind the penalty arc to double their lead. Zainul Abdeen took a beautiful free kick near the half line which was collected by Jamal who nailed the final goal in the 18th minute. Rabbani’s Zainul Abdeen and Md Areeb also showcased outstanding performance. Earlier in the semis, Rabbani defeated DPS Mihan 2-0 with goals from Md Ibrahim (1st) and Zainul Abdeen (23rd). In the second semi-final, DPS Kamptee beat BYM Ashti 3-0 via penalty shoot-out after the match ended in a 0-0 draw. Saurabh Lanjewar, Riyansh Bhatia and Ibrahim Ansari scored goals. For the third place, DPS Mihan pipped BYM Ashti 1-0. Videsh Sharma scored the winning goal in the 19th minute. At the outset, Mahadev Kasgawade, Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Services, Nagpur, greeted the players ahead of their match.
